UMP has recently published its list of award nominations, with no shortage of controversy as usual, causing a lot of chaos on social media.
There are questionable artist nominations and confusing categories such as Song of The Year and Music of The year sections which are tricky to differentiate, making the inclusion of both somewhat redundant.
Adidas, a song by Martse has also been nominated as Song of The Year which doesn’t seem deserving looking at the fact that the song didn’t really make much noise.
Chisoni by Janta, Follow by Phyzix, Mapulani by Namadingo and Ndizasangalala by Rashley have also been nominated in the same category as Song of The Year.
Eli Njuchi has also been nominated in the category of Best Dancehall Act which has raised a lot of questions considering that his most recent performances haven’t really been the typical dancehall genre.
Kelvin Sings hasn’t been nominated on the Gospel Act category, which is the most popping question of this year’s awards leaving many with the feeling that he has been snubbed.
Phyzix has been nominated in five categories; Artist of The Year, Best Hip Hop Act, Music of The Year, Song of The Year and with his album, Gamba Season in the Album of The Year category
